Very nice! Whenever I see an image of a space elevator I can't help but think of Iain M Banks' 'Feersum Ennjin' - the description of the space elevator in this book is brilliant and (although Banks space elevator is deliberately stylised) I think your image fits the bill really well! Well done!
re: Banks - I'm biased as I'm a long time fan... I think Feersum Ennjin has some of the best imagery of future architecture you will find in scifi literature.
However: it isn't always an easy read - one the main characters is dyslectic and therefore writes phonetically. I know from the Iain M Banks forums that many people find this totally irritating. I can't say that it bothered me at all.
